make sure you are using a good flat iron to start with, with ceramic plates. the chi is an excellent one. also, use styling products. i just use hair gloss or something for heat protection make sure you run the iron down the entire length of your hair. and go slow enough. my hair is the same as yours and mine turns our great every time.

Geisha used wax to keep the style in place, usually not washing their hair for months. They also had to use a special pillow so they wouldn't flatten the hair. You might be able to get that done somewhere, not sure. <3
