I have a question for anyone who remembers the old style soft hood hair dryers and table top harder shell hood dryers that you would use at home.
Does anyone remember what the popular brands were from the mid 1970's?
Also how long did it used to take to dry hair compared to a regular salon dryer?

I dont think you tried…LOL
Besides sanding it smooth, I believe the best thing to help keep it from degredation would be repeated applications of food-grade mineral oil, available at pharmacies. Wipe off the excess after application. Some may say to use olive oil, but it can go sour.
You'll want to add three "feet" on the bottom so it won't tip. Go the the wood section of the craft store, and see what would work. I am thinking of epoxying three half-spheres to the bowl.
I have an ionic styler and ionic hood. Never really used the brush attachment, but when I blow dry my hair I start with the wide tooth, then the fine tooth to get it straight. But I prefer the hood for all reasons previously stated – some styles you just can't do without a hood dryer. Now, I just used a regular blow dryer here at the hotel with my paddle brush because I had to wash my hair. Fine for drying, but unless you have a fresh relaxer, yanno we have to manipulate our hair straighter. If you can only afford 1, go for the hood.
Naturally it’s better than 3.5 but still… there looks like there can still be some Major work done on it. It should have been called 4.0… not 5.0 the upgrade doesn’t appear so major to me.
